Boris Becker: Alcaraz Will Not Win 20 Grand Slams

Tennis
The German legend believes that the Spaniard is an almost perfect Big Three successor, but it's unrealistic for him to win so many titles.

Tennis legend Boris Becker made headlines this week with a bold prediction about rising star Carlos Alcaraz. The 20-year-old Spaniard won his first Grand Slam title at the 2022 US Open and became the youngest ever world number one, continuing his progress with a Wimbledon title in 2023. But Becker cautions against expecting too much too soon from the youngster.

It is misleading to think Carlos can surpass 20 Grand Slam titles. I am convinced that 3 players will never again win more than 20 Grand Slam tournaments at the same time. He is very important for the tennis scene, a great ambassador. Also, last but not least, a great successor of the Big 3.

Becker also believes it is totally okay that people compare Carlos to Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal.

It’s almost impossible to avoid comparison with Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal & Roger Federer. But please give him time to develop, so that he doesn’t lose interest in the sport. We still need this kid for a few years.
