Sonora released the architects’ renderings of the new Raider gymnasium.
The structure, which is to be built on the land behind the current gym and where the current racquetball courts are located, is part of the Measure I Bond that the Fullerton Joint Union High School District has been implementing and funding campus upgrades.
According to the district, the designs for the gym are still on-going, and the plans of the gym have been submitted for approval to the Division of the State Architect.
The Division of the State Architect provides design and construction oversight for K–12 schools, community colleges, and various other state-owned and leased facilities.
The current gym will remain and be utilized for assemblies, as a practice gym and by athletics like wrestling.
Construction is set to begin next year.
Other upgrades for Sonora include roof replacement, science classrooms upgrades and theater modernization.
