The La Habra Heights city council swore in two new city council members and voted unanimously to appoint Roy Francis mayor for the next year. Newly re-elected Council member Brian Bergman was named Mayor Pro Tem. The council recognized Jane Williams for her year of service as mayor. The council appointed members to various committees. Bergman was reappointed to the Investment Advisement Committee. Williams and Carey Klingfus were appointed to the Audit (Budget and Finance) Committee. Francis and Zezula were named to the California Contract Cities Association. As mayor, Francis was appointed to the California Joint Powers Insurance Authority. Williams and Francis will remain on the Hillside Open Space Education Coalition. Francis and Bergman were appointed as representatives to the Los Angeles County Sanitation District. Bergman and Klingfus are delegates on the League of California Cities. Zezula and Bergman were named as delegates to the Southern California Association of Governments. Williams and Zezula were appointed representatives to the Wildlife Corridor Conservation Authority. Francis said that he is looking forward to helping lead the city as mayor and is honored by the council’s confidence in him for the position.
“There’s going to be a lot of work ahead,” Francis said. “I can guarantee you that the council will do the best that they can for the city. “
